Plain English. No tricks.
Origins Coffee ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy and wants you to understand exactly what we do with any information you share with us. This page explains it in plain English. If anything's unclear, email us — we'll answer.
The short version: we collect the bare minimum we need to run the business and stay in touch with you. Specifically:
Beyond the above, we don't collect your phone number or any other personal identifier unless you specifically choose to share it with us (for example, in a contact form message or a wholesale application).
We never sell your information. We don't trade it, and we never hand your name, email, or order history to data brokers or marketing lists.
Two kinds of companies do receive data, and we want to be plain about both: the service providers we need to run the business, and Meta, which receives website activity for advertising (see section 4).
Each of these companies has agreed to keep your data confidential and use it only for the purpose we've engaged them for.
Our website uses minimal cookies — essentially just the ones needed to remember whether you've seen the intro video and to keep you logged in to the admin panel if you're a staff member.
We also use the Meta Pixel. This is advertising technology from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. When you visit our site it reports activity back to Meta: which pages you viewed, items you added to your cart, and completed purchases along with the order total. Meta uses this to measure whether our ads actually work, and to show our ads to people like you — including showing them to you again after you have visited. That last part is commonly called retargeting.
What the pixel does not send: your name, your password, or your card details.
If you would rather not be tracked this way:
Blocking it changes nothing about your ability to browse, order, or use your account.
If you choose local delivery, here is exactly how location works — in both directions.
Your location. We ask for the ZIP code you want delivered to so we can confirm you're within about 25 miles of our Middletown shop, and we collect your street address at checkout so the driver can find you. We do not track your phone, and we do not ask your device for its location at any point.
Our driver's location. When your order goes out for delivery, we send you a private tracking link. While the driver is on the way, their phone shares its position so you can watch the delivery approach on a map — the same idea as a food-delivery app. Some specifics worth stating plainly:
Pickup and shipped orders involve no location tracking at all.
Your data is stored on AWS infrastructure with industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest). Our admin panel is protected by a PIN. Card payments never touch our servers — they go directly to Stripe over an encrypted channel.
That said, no system is 100% secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you within 72 hours and tell you what was exposed and what we're doing about it.
Our services aren't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please email us and we'll delete it immediately.
You can:
California, Virginia, and Colorado residents have additional rights under their state privacy laws — we honor those same rights for everyone, regardless of where you live.
When you install our mobile app from the App Store or Google Play, it may request the following permissions:
We do not request access to your location, contacts, photos, or microphone. Live delivery tracking described in section 5 is a website feature and shares our driver’s position with you — it never asks for yours.
If we ever update this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the "last updated" date below. Material changes will also be communicated by email to anyone on our list.
